The Voice of My Faith

Easter Triduum

Dear friends,

We are committed to guiding and walking with you on this spiritual journey through life. We want so much to celebrate the Sacraments with you, especially during this most wonderful time of year. However, like most all of you, we are shut in our homes and offices. Yet somehow we can be together in prayer. We encourage you to take the time to reflect on the Readings for Mass and then listen to homily below. Let us stay connected through the power of this modern tool for evangelising. Until we can meet again!

Introduction to Holy Week

For the first time in history our churches are closed and services have been suspended. Instead of being encouraged to attend Mass we have been asked to stay at home.

But what about Holy Week?

As we approach the most sacred days of our journey we begin to wonder if we are headed toward a spiritual desert. Instead of hearing the joy of church bells, music and prayers of the faithful, we are facing the deafening echoes of silence.

Spiritual Laziness

It is a given that we can go to Church at anytime. We can go outside or on holiday, we can go shopping and visit our friends. This is called freedom. What happens when our freedom is taken away from us? This doesn’t have to be a time of despair. It can be a reminder of the earliest Christian experience. There were no church buildings and the Church was poor. The Holy Spirit had been poured out, and the persecuted gathered in houses and caves. The apostles and their disciples preached the word of God and led the faithful to the mysteries of salvation.

Stay@Home Pray@Home

This year you will gather in your homes with the fabulous media of the Internet, YouTube and Television. I invite you to join me in this journey of Passover from despair to hope from death to life.

God Bless you,

Fr. Urs
