A Light in the Dark: Saint Lucia
Saint Lucy, revered as Santa Lucia, lived a life devoted to Christian faith in the 3rd century. Born in Syracuse, Sicily, she consecrated herself to God and chose a path of selfless generosity, distributing her family's wealth to those who were less fortunate. Despite facing persecution and arrest due to her unwavering faith, Lucy remained steadfast, and legends tell of miraculous interventions protecting her.
St. Lucy Celebrating
Her story is one of spiritual resilience, symbolised by her patronage of the blind. Saint Lucy's feast day on December 13, in the Western Christian tradition, is a time to reflect on the enduring light of faith and the generosity that defines her legacy. This day is often celebrated with customs that emphasise the theme of light, echoing the etymological connection of her name to the Latin word "lux," meaning light.
We Celebrate
We will celebrate this light in the dark with a special light service in Good Shepherd on Saturday evening, December 13th beginning at 17:30. Please join us, together with Chor Audite Nova Zug for an evening of LIGHT, PRAYER and MUSIC.
