The First Friday of every month is devoted to meditation, prayer, and Eucharist Adoration.

Dedicated to Jesus

On the First Friday of each month, Adoration begins in the Crypt at 7:00 in the morning. Eucharist Adoration in the crypt of Good Shepherd accompanied by the rosary, is held in the church beginning at 18:30. Confessions can be heard from 18:45-19:15. It is followed by the Celebration of the Eucharist (in German).

First Friday Devotion

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is an ancient practice in the Catholic Church. St. Margaret Mary Alacoque made this devotion widespread after our Lord appeared to her and, according to her autobiography, said, “Behold this heart which, not withstanding the burning love for men with which it is consume and exhausted, meet with no other return from most Christian than sacrilege, contempt, indifference and ingratitude, even in the sacrament of my love (the eucharist.). But what pierces me heart most deeply is that I am subjected to these insults by persons especially consecrated to my serve.”

Saint Margaret

St. Margaret (July 22, 1647-October 17, 1690) was a French Catholic Visitation nun and mystic who promoted devotion to the Sacred Hear of Jesus as it is known today. As a young child growing up in the small village of La Hautecouer in northern France, she preferred prayer and reflection over the recreation activities of her day. She developed a great love for the Holy Eucharist.
