A Season of Welcome

Our contribution to the Pfarreiblatt first appeared in 2011. Since then we have witnessed change, growth and the transition of three papacies.

The First Reading for the Third Sunday of Advent (Isaiah 35: 1-6a, 11)gives us a powerful image of renewal. At the end of November, Pope Leo XIV stepped onto Lebanese soil in his first Apostolic Journey abroad. Thousands of Arab Christians, especially from the Maronite Church, lined the rainy streets of Beirut to welcome him. Their welcome was a reminder that faith can be shared publicly and celebrated when circumstances are not easy. Here at home, with a hopeful heart, we welcome Mantalin Kyrou, who becomes our new coordinator for communication. She steps forward to share her voice, reflections, announcements and hopes so that our parish life remains alive on paper and in heart. Let us welcome her with the openness that Isaiah describes and what Pope Leo felt in Beirut.

Kurt Schaller & Karen Curjel

Dear Karen, the written word reaches and touches people in powerful ways. Your style of writing, the way you have met people within your words, has shaped our community for many years. Your joy in our faith and your constant curiosity to create new things has inspired not only our parish team but also encouraged many people to set out on their own journey of encountering God. Heartfelt thanks for all you have given. We wish you all the very best and God’s abundant blessing in everything you plan and do. We look forward to many more meaningful and wonderful moments with you, conversations, laughter, shared meals, celebrations, and friendship.

Warmly, Fr. Kurt
